Parents who have lost children to heart conditions want their kids’ hearts to keep beating in other ways to help raise awareness and funds. They want their child’s passing to matter.
Lily De Leon lived just over a month due to congenital heart failure. Her heartbeat was the rhythm that gave life to the song “Lily’s Raincoat”, by Martina Sorbara of Dragonette and Tom Westin. The song inspired a modern dance performance by Canadian Emma Portner.
The audiovisual piece was part of SickKids’ Heart Month fundraiser.
